First joint Meeting of the companies in the defence industry of Bulgaria, members of the Association of the Bulgarian Defence Industry (BDIA) and trade unions, was held in Kazanlak. Forum in this format is unmatched so far, said academician Stefan Vodenicharov, one of the co-presidents of the Association.
The participants in the extended meeting discussed current issues of the Bulgarian defence industry, the future of the defence industry, related to the personnel provision with the necessary specialists, social policy, partnership with the State, Unions and others.
There was a concern about the attitude of the state to the Bulgarian Defence Industry and its attraction in the realization of the projects related to the modernization of the Bulgarian army.
The participants in the meeting decided to request a letter of invitation to the Ministers of Defence and the economy of the Republic of Bulgaria Krasimir Karakachanov and Emil Karaninikolov, for holding a joint meeting with the companies of the Bulgarian member of the BDIA and the leaders of the trade unions, meeting to discuss the questions about the state’s attitude towards the Bulgarian companies in the defence industry and their place in the modernization of the Bulgarian army and the securing of the industry with the necessary personnel. At the forum in Kazanlak was expressed the concern of trade unions in “Dunnarit” JSC – Ruse, regarding the pressure of the State towards the company and the reduced orders and the growing concern of the workers, as a consequence. The Association of the companies from the Bulgarian defence industry /BDIA/was created 14 years ago as a legal forum and a single voice for exchange of ideas between public authorities and industry to solve problems related to the defence industry, with Defence and security of the Republic of Bulgaria to achieve sustainable development of the industry.
Currently, the 15 BDIA member firms directly or indirectly employ more than 20 thousand people or around 70 thousand people with families.
